Postcards From the Edge is a Visual AIDS benefit show and sale of original, postcard-sized works on paper by established and emerging artists. All works are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. The works are signed on the back and exhibited so the artists' signatures cannot be seen. While buyers receive a list of all participating artists, they don't know who created which piece until purchased. All proceeds support the programs of Visual AIDS.

Visual AIDS utilizes art to fight AIDS by provoking dialogue, supporting HIV+ artists, and preserving the legacy -- because AIDS IS NOT OVER

I consider the home to be a container that not only shelters our physical bodies but also harbors memories and daydreams. I use the tension between warmth and sterility to question the notion of absence and how a void emerges only to reveal the presence of something else. In part, my work is an investigation of loss, whether that be a mundane loss (of an object) or a profound loss (of a person). I am interested in my own sense of urgency to preserve memory while simultaneously being aware of the impossibility of such an endeavor. Although my work suggests vacancy, art making provides me the opportunity to reinvent and re-imagine the void through an uncanny and sometimes painful confrontation with my own memories.

I have been working on a new video project inspired by a mechanical dollhouse I discovered at the House on the Rock in south western Wisconsin. The source imagery was entirely derived from my experience there. I will post the video upon completion. Here are some stills in the meantime:

My most recent work has been fueled by these quasi-historical tourist attractions in mid-western United States. I am interested in the narratives that are created and sometimes contrived for these specific sites and how we, as tourists, engage with our own imagination as we navigate these peculiar places. While these locations produce a sense of nostalgia for recalling the past they also establish the excitement and absurdity of the spectacle.

Chain Letter

Chain Letter is a global artist-curated exhibition. Ten artists were asked to participate in the exhibition. They were then given instructions to invite 10 more artists based on admiration. This cycle continued for 30 days. The end result is a massive artist curated exhibition. I participated in the exhibition which is currently up and running at Samson Projects in Boston, MA.
